nice to be back (no power since 11/30 due to wind storm damage)...nice to see ROBERT OSBORNE again...he looks great...thinner though...really enjoyed him last night!!! the month of December brings the usual holiday movies and a whole lot more!!!

#1. THE THIN MAN...the complete series will air thursday 12/22 starting at 8:00 P.M.  feturing the incomparable WILLIAM POWELL & MYRNA LOY as NICK & NORA CHARLES...SIX films altogether...first four directed by W. S. van Dyke...the series loses a little steam along the way, but is kept alive by good writing and the great chemistry of POWELL and LOY..you might want to DVR the set...it is available on DVD!!

#2. ZOLTAN KORDA!!! monday December 26 is dedicated to the films of "MY MAN KORDA"!!!  (maybe TCM read my blog about "THE OTHER KORDA BROTHER"...I seriously doubt it)..featuring THE FOUR FEATHERS....DRUM...THE THIEF OF BAHGDAD...THE JUNGLE BOOK...and CRY, THE BELOVED COUNTRY!!! http://fan.tcm.com/_ZOLTANTHE-OTHER-KORDA-BROTHER/blog/3750849/66470.html

#3. THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT...PARTS I, II, III... staring at 1:00P.M. on thursday 12/29....an extravaganza of MGM musicals (clips...outtakes..interviews)... started by Jack Haley, Jr. in 1974...a total fun experience...part I is the best...a great bargain on DVD!!

Nothing like the Thin Man marathon, TCM ran it a couple of years ago on New Year's Eve, but there's no way to keep up with all of the drinking!

All great stuff I have seen multiple times... well, only saw bits of Cry, The Beloved Country and saw Drum just once. Jungle Book is a hoot with an American black bear, mechanical python, fallow deer (not found in India) and other oddball critters who look out of place in a California-esque setting (despite being a British co-production). Oh... but the gawdy color is one of a kind, if you can see it on TCM instead of muddy public domain prints. The whole That's Entertainment! series I have practically memorized by now...

Ah, now I know what we'll do over school vacation when the children's presents lose their lustre.  Thanks for the notice, I can't wait to see That's Entertainment again.

Thanks for the heads up on these, particularly the work of Zoltan Korda- The Four Feathers and The Thief of Bagdad are particular favorites also Drum-

I had read that Michael Powell did much of the directing of The Thief of Bagdad! I wonder if the credited director, Ludwig Berger actually directed much of it at all! And what could be better than New Years Eve with the Marx Brothers in some of their best works!

I'm looking forward to seeing the six Thin Man films and the Marx Brothers. I've seen That's Entertainment a few times, but it's fun to watch. Thank you, Doc, for the movie listing!
